The Laval region is constantly evolving, with various construction sites opening up for private projects requiring the addition of new municipal infrastructures of various sizes.
One of the roles of Laval économique is to provide you with as much information as possible about the nature of the work. This page provides you with more information on these projects, including start dates, job duration and much more.
What is a private project requiring the addition of new municipal infrastructure?
This means that a developer wishing to develop a sector not served by municipal services will, under certain conditions(by-law L-12400), have to carry out municipal infrastructure work, such as :
- Extension of water and sewer systems (sanitary and storm)
- Opening of public streets (including paving, curbs, etc.)
- Creation of bicycle paths, sidewalks and lighting
These infrastructures will be handed over to the City for maintenance and accessibility after construction, while the residential, commercial or industrial buildings erected will remain privately owned.
The city supports developers throughout this development process, which involves the addition of municipal services.
