Operation Prosperity Laval

The City of Laval is investing $4.5 million to support its export businesses and ensure the region’s economic prosperity.

Helping Laval-based export businesses become more resilient

In an economic climate marked by changes in U.S. trade policy and continuing uncertainty over higher customs tariffs, export businesses within the region are facing significant challenges.

To help businesses adapt to this new economic reality, the City of Laval is investing $4.5 million under its Prosperity Laval initiative. In response to American market uncertainty, a package of new services and resources is being deployed in collaboration with our regional partners as part of an effort to support businesses and help them diversify their export markets.

Concrete actions to meet the challenges posed by customs tariffs

The City of Laval is implementing several measures to help businesses navigate higher customs tariffs.

Creation of an oversight committee

Establishment of a committee made up of City of Laval representatives, regional economic development partners, and major export businesses. This committee aims to strengthen collaboration between economic stakeholders across the region. Its mission is to assess the risks associated with the rise in customs tariffs and put forward mitigation measures in support of affected businesses.

Impact assessment on customs tariffs

An assessment will be carried out with Laval-based export businesses to determine the potential economic impacts of new customs tariffs. Its objective is to help the City of Laval and its partners develop adapted support measures.

As part of Operation Prosperity Laval, the City of Laval is offering a number of high-potential initiatives to help guide diversification efforts undertaken by businesses and support their competitiveness.
